Daniel Pinkham was instrumental (and vocal) in the Early Music revival of the 20th century, and gave many American premieres of rediscovered works that had never previously been performed on these shores. Early Music was also a big influence on a lot of his own music. We explore this connection in Renaissance Man, a program consisting of Pinkham juxtaposed with Palestrina, Victoria, Gabrieli, and Gesualdo, and also with more modern contemporaries Poulenc and Hindemith, who shared many of their sensibilities.
